Marubeni Urban Development, Haseko and Sogo Housing To Develop 203-Room Hotel in Susukino
Marubeni Urban Development, Haseko Corporation and Sogo Housing began construction in August 2026 on a hotel tentatively named the Minami 7-jo Nishi 5-chome Project in Minami 7-jo Nishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo. The joint project by the three companies is scheduled for completion in April 2028.
The property is a four-minute walk from the Higashi-Honganji-mae stop on the Sapporo Streetcar and a seven-minute walk from Susukino Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Namboku Line. The 12-story building will have 203 guest rooms in three types — double, twin and family — targeting a range of demand including inbound travelers, multi-night stays and group bookings.
Marubeni Urban Development and Haseko Corporation jointly acquired the development site in August 2025. In September of that year, Sogo Housing acquired part of the interest held by Marubeni Urban Development.
Marubeni Urban Development and Sogo Housing are subsidiaries of Dai-Ichi Life Marubeni Real Estate, which Marubeni and Dai-ichi Life Holdings (now Dai-ichi Life Group) established jointly in July 2025. The two companies jointly acquired an office building in Shin-Koenji in March 2026 and announced the joint development of two rental apartment properties in Mejiro and Akabane in June of the same year. In the hotel sector, they disclosed a development plan in Naha in April of the same year together with ES-CON JAPAN, and their joint projects now span offices, housing and hotels.
