D&M Company Acquires Tanashi Hospital Site Interest for JPY 1.05 Billion
D&M Company decided on Aug. 25, 2026, to acquire a 50% ownership interest in the Tanashi Hospital site in Midoricho 3-chome, Nishi-Tokyo, Tokyo. The acquisition price is JPY 1.05 billion. It will acquire the site jointly with Sanwa Jutaku Service, with each taking a 50% interest. The seller is IBS, a real estate leasing company. After the acquisition, the land will be leased to Ryokushukai Medical Foundation from Aug. 31 of the same month.
The entire site totals approximately 1,927 tsubo (approx. 68,600 sq. ft.) and is a 12-minute walk from Hibarigaoka Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Ryokushukai operates Tanashi Hospital and a long-term care medical facility, among other facilities, on the site.
IBS currently owns both the land and the buildings, with Ryokushukai leasing the buildings to run the facilities. Under this deal, Ryokushukai will acquire the buildings while D&M Company and Sanwa Jutaku Service acquire the site. The two companies will sign a general fixed-term land lease agreement with Ryokushukai and lease the land on a long-term basis.
D&M Company provides management support to medical, nursing care and welfare operators, combining financing, business improvement and staffing support. In April 2026, it also acquired a site for nursing care and disability welfare facilities in Miyagi Prefecture, expanding a support model that adds real estate acquisition and leasing to its traditional financial and management support.
It is not the only company moving to acquire the land underlying hospitals. Healthcare & Medical Investment Corporation plans to acquire Haruyama Memorial Hospital (land) in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, for about JPY 3.44 billion in September 2026. Buyers can expect stable income by leasing land on a long-term basis to medical facilities that are difficult to relocate. Hospitals, for their part, can own the buildings and retain discretion over facility operations while limiting the burden of acquiring land. Separating property ownership from hospital operations has become one option for medical corporations seeking to direct management resources toward medical services (see related article: Healthcare & Medical Investment Corporation to Acquire 14 Assets for JPY 21.7 Billion).
