Meitetsu City Design Breaks Ground on Its First Office Development in Sendai

Meitetsu City Design announced on October 13, 2026, that it has begun construction of Meitetsu Sendai Minamimachi-dori Building, an office building in Ichibancho 2-chome, Aoba-ku, Sendai. It is the company's first development project in the Sendai area. Completion is scheduled for the end of January 2028.

The eight-story building will have a gross floor area of approximately 1,425 tsubo (approx. 50,700 sq. ft.). It is about a four-minute walk from Aoba-dori Ichibancho Station on the Sendai Subway Tozai Line and about a six-minute walk from Sendai Station on the JR lines and Sendai Subway, and it faces Minamimachi-dori Street.

The structure will have at least 1.25 times the seismic resistance required under the New Earthquake Resistance Standards, and the building will be equipped with 24-hour emergency generators capable of supplying power to each floor in an emergency. In addition to a shared terrace available to all tenants, a terrace dedicated to the top-floor office will be provided. The exterior wall facing Minamimachi-dori Street was designed with a motif based on the hakama fabric of Sendai-hira, a silk textile woven in Sendai.

Meitetsu City Design is the real estate company of the Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu) Group and develops offices and housing, primarily in its home base of Nagoya. In June 2026, it announced the completion of kinobi Meieki, its first timber office building. In the Sendai area, the Meitetsu Group operates sales offices and affiliated companies, including Miyagi Kotsu, a consolidated subsidiary of Nagoya Railroad.
