Toho to Sell Seven Properties in Ibaraki, Yamanashi and Hokkaido

Toho Co., Ltd. announced on August 17, 2026, that it will sell seven properties it owns in Ibaraki, Yamanashi and Hokkaido prefectures, including retail stores and a former parking lot site. The combined book value of the properties is approximately JPY 1.43 billion, and delivery of some of them has already been completed. Upon completion of the sale of all properties, the company expects to record a combined gain on sale of fixed assets of approximately JPY 300 million.

The properties to be sold are the Tsukuba Building in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture; Ushiku Buildings A through D in Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture; the Kofu Showa Building in Showa Town, Nakakoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture; and the Asahikawa Parking Lot in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. The six properties in Tsukuba, Ushiku and Kofu are used as retail stores. All buyers are domestic corporations.

In its medium-term management plan announced in April 2025, Toho set out a policy of reviewing its real estate portfolio and considering and implementing measures such as sales for properties with limited strategic value. After reviewing approximately 130 properties it owns, the company will sell seven regional and suburban properties judged to have limited future earnings contribution as the first concrete step under this policy.

While the company's core business is film, it also operates a real estate business, which accounted for approximately 25% of overall operating profit in the fiscal year ended February 2026. In redevelopment, the company is advancing the "(Tentative) Marunouchi 3-1 Project," an integrated rebuilding of the Teigeki Building and the Kokusai Building jointly with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and the Idemitsu Museum of Arts, pursuing redevelopment of key properties in parallel with the review of its asset holdings.
