Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi Completed by Mitsui Fudosan and Nomura Real Estate

Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi, the Nihonbashi 1-chome Central District Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project that Mitsui Fudosan and Nomura Real Estate Development have been advancing, was completed on September 30, 2026. The project implementer is the Nihonbashi 1-chome Central District Urban Redevelopment Association. A grand opening is scheduled during 2027.
The site is directly connected to "Nihombashi" Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and Tozai Line and the Toei Asakusa Line. Together with the existing Nihonbashi 1-chome Mitsui Building, the development comprises four blocks. Nihonbashi Nomura Mitsui Tower in Block C has 52 floors above ground and five below, with a height of approximately 284 m. Offices occupy floors 10 through 20 and 22 through 38, with standard floor areas of approximately 1,970 tsubo (approx. 70,100 sq. ft.) and approximately 1,370 tsubo (approx. 48,700 sq. ft.), respectively. Floors 39 through 47 house the Waldorf Astoria Tokyo Nihonbashi hotel (197 rooms), and floors 48 through 51 rental residences (71 units). A MICE facility of approximately 2,000 tsubo (approx. 71,200 sq. ft.) is scheduled to open in October 2027. In Block A, the exterior of the former Nihonbashi Nomura Building, a tangible cultural property designated by Chuo Ward, has been preserved, with the lower floors repositioned as retail space. Block B houses 48 residential units and retail space.
Nomura Holdings will move its headquarters into the offices, and the headquarters of Daiichi Sankyo and Bank of America's Japan operations are also scheduled to move in. Daiichi Sankyo plans to relocate around autumn 2027. I'LL INC. will also move its Tokyo headquarters to the tower in March 2028.
The project is the first phase of "Nihonbashi River Walk," an approximately 11-hectare urban development that links five redevelopment projects along the Nihonbashi River with the undergrounding of the Nihonbashi section of the Metropolitan Expressway. The expressway's elevated structure is scheduled to be removed around 2040. COREDO Nihonbashi, the retail facility within the Nihonbashi 1-chome Mitsui Building, will close on October 15 and reopen during 2027 after renovation as part of the retail zone of Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi.
