Japan Post Acquires 1.6 Million-SF Logistics Facility in Koto Ward's Shinsuna
Japan Post acquired Tokyo C-NX, a logistics facility in Shinsuna, Koto Ward, Tokyo, in October 2026. Neither the seller nor the acquisition price has been disclosed.
In December 2025, Nippon Express sold the facility to ML ESTATE Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Mizuho Leasing, after which a real estate fund managed by U.S.-based Blackstone acquired it for more than JPY 100 billion.
The property is located a 12-minute walk from "Shiomi" Station on the JR Keiyo Line and a five-minute drive from the "Shinkiba IC" interchange on the Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route. Completed in 2017, it is a five-story building above ground with a gross floor area of approximately 45,000 tsubo (approx. 1,601,200 sq. ft.). Japan Post will operate it as an integrated logistics hub together with the adjacent Shin-Tokyo Post Office to the north, and will also strengthen coordination with the Tokyo Branch of Japan Post Transport, adjacent to the south. The combined site area of the three facilities will be approximately 51,000 tsubo (approx. 1,814,700 sq. ft.).
The acquisition is part of "real estate development linked to the reorganization of collection and delivery bases," a priority strategy in the "JP Plan 2028" medium-term management plan announced by the Japan Post Group in May 2026. The group will transfer the mail and logistics functions of post offices in central Tokyo, such as those in Ginza and Kyobashi, to nearby post offices and to facilities including the one acquired in this transaction, and will pursue real estate development on the vacated sites. The functions of the Ginza Post Office (gross floor area of approximately 18,000 tsubo) are scheduled to be relocated by fiscal 2028.
