Mtrust Acquires Mixed-Use Building in Tokyo’s Akasaka
Mtrust acquired Shindo Building, a mixed-use property in Akasaka 5-chome, Minato Ward, Tokyo, at the end of March 2026. The seller was Yamawake Estate, a subsidiary of WeCapital that operates a real estate crowdfunding business. Mtrust acquired the same property from an individual in August 2024 before selling it to Yamawake Estate in January 2026, and then reacquired it after about two months.
The property is a four-story building completed in 1974. It is used for retail, office and multifamily residential purposes, and has a Gross Floor Area of approximately 125 tsubo (approx. 4,400 sq. ft.). It is located a three-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and a six-minute walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi and Ginza lines.
Around Akasaka Station, Mitsubishi Estate and TBS Holdings are advancing the Akasaka 2- and 6-Chome District Development Plan. Two buildings, the East District tower with 40 floors above ground and the West District tower with 18 floors above ground, are scheduled for completion in 2028. The project will include a theater, hall, hotel, offices and retail facilities.
The buyer, Mtrust, entered into a business alliance with WeCapital in 2023 and indicated plans to provide real estate development projects and properties, as well as conduct due diligence on projects to be handled. The latest acquisition appears to be related to a property sale in the real estate crowdfunding business.
