Sumitomo Corporation Acquires Jimbocho YMU Building from Sun Frontier Fudousan
In March 2025, Sun Frontier Fudousan sold the “Jimbocho YMU Building,” located in Kanda-Ogawamachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, to Sumitomo Corporation.
The property, completed in November 1972, is a reinforced concrete structure with six stories above ground and one basement level. It offers a total gross floor area of approximately 228.4 tsubo (approx. 7,547 sq. ft.) and comprises both retail and office space. The building is conveniently situated a five-minute walk from Jimbocho Station, which is served by the Toei Mita Line, Toei Shinjuku Line, and Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line.
Sun Frontier had acquired the asset in February 2024 and exited within a short period, reflecting the company's short-hold, value-add repositioning strategy under its “Replanning” business model. Sumitomo Corporation, the buyer, has been actively acquiring stable, income-generating assets for medium- to long-term hold, particularly in Tokyo’s central five wards, and is also engaged in other development projects in the Jimbocho area.
The Kanda–Jimbocho district has seen increasing momentum in recent years, with a surge in redevelopment projects and the arrival of startup hubs, indicating strong potential for rising occupancy rates and rents.
