Tosei Acquires Two Hotels in Kanda and Asakusa Through M&A

Tosei acquired all shares of Pelican Hotels Co., Ltd., a hotel operating company, from Pelican Kanko on June 30, 2026. The two hotels owned by Pelican Hotels, Kanda Grand Central Hotel and Asakusa Central Hotel, will be owned and operated by the Tosei Group.

Kanda Grand Central Hotel is located a three-minute walk from Kanda Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and JR lines, in an area with a concentration of office buildings. The property was completed in 1981 and has 11 floors above ground, with 157 guest rooms. Asakusa Central Hotel is located a three-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and faces Kaminarimon-dori Avenue. The property was completed in 1988 and has eight floors above ground, with 72 guest rooms.

As domestic real estate prices rise amid higher construction costs, Tosei is working to diversify its property acquisition methods through real estate M&A and business succession support in order to capture inbound demand. This is the company’s second acquisition of a hotel business operated by another company, following Tosei Hotel & Seminar Makuhari in 2019.

Tosei already operates its TOSEI HOTEL COCONE hotel brand in Kanda and Asakusa, where the newly acquired properties are located. For this transaction, the company said it will advance hotel operations by leveraging operating expertise gained from its existing locations, while also pursuing value-add initiatives and lodging plan development that capitalize on the characteristics of the properties’ locations.
