Takara Holdings to Sell 18 Rental Properties, Booking JPY 8.8 Billion Gain
Takara Holdings announced on September 15, 2026, that it will sell 18 rental properties held by the company and by Kawahigashi Shoji, its subsidiary engaged in real estate leasing. The combined book value is JPY 4.2 billion. Contracts are to be signed in October and November, with deliveries following in stages in November and December.
Of the properties being sold, 13 are held by Takara Holdings: two in Kamigyo Ward, five in Fushimi Ward and two in Minami Ward of Kyoto City, along with one each in Muko, Kyoto Prefecture; Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture; Higashinada Ward, Kobe; and Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The remaining five are held by Kawahigashi Shoji, located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City; Kuse District, Kyoto Prefecture; Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture; Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture; and Ritto, Shiga Prefecture.
Under the Takara Group Medium-Term Management Plan 2030 released in May 2026, the company has set out shareholder return measures funded by sales of strategically held shares and non-core real estate. It expects to book a gain on sale of fixed assets of approximately JPY 8.8 billion as an extraordinary gain in the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027. The company's largest gain on sale of fixed assets since the fiscal year ended March 2012 was JPY 825 million in the fiscal year ended March 2025, meaning this transaction will far exceed that level.
