Fairmont Hotels & Resorts to Open Fairmont Niseko in Hokkaido
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of Accor, announced on July 22, 2026, that it will open Fairmont Niseko in Niseko, Hokkaido, in partnership with private equity investment firm J-Will Partners. It will be the second Fairmont-branded property in Japan and is scheduled to open in early 2028.
The planned site is in a forested area between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri, with a site area of approximately 11,000 tsubo (approx. 391,400 sq. ft.). The hotel will have 165 guest rooms and will feature a spa, wellness facilities, and a kids' club. The extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen to Sapporo is currently expected to be completed and open around the end of fiscal 2038, which is anticipated to improve access to the area.
Fairmont made its first entry into Japan in July 2025, opening Fairmont Tokyo at BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA in Shibaura, Tokyo. This project marks the rollout of a resort-type hotel following the urban luxury hotel. Accor operates multiple hotel brands in Japan and, in 2028, also plans to open its top-tier brand Raffles Tokyo in the World Trade Center Building reconstruction project in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo.
