Sekisui Chemical Acquires Hokkaido-Based Custom Homebuilder Architect Planning
Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. announced that, effective January 1, 2026, it has acquired all outstanding shares of Architec-Planning Co., Ltd., a Hokkaido-based custom wooden homebuilder, making the company a wholly owned subsidiary. The sellers were Yuko No. 2 Investment Limited Partnership, managed by Yuko Capital Partners Co., Ltd., along with other shareholders. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
Founded in 2003, Architec-Planning specializes in high-performance, design-focused custom wooden homes and renovation services, primarily in Sapporo, Asahikawa, and the Tomakomai area. For the fiscal year ended March 2025, the company reported revenue of JPY 7.3 billion and employed 76 people as of June 2025. In addition to its core Hokkaido markets, the company also operates a branch office in Fukuoka.
Sekisui Chemical has traditionally developed and sold steel-frame modular homes under the “Sekisui Heim” brand in Hokkaido. By entering the wooden housing segment, the company aims to respond to increasingly diverse customer preferences. Through this acquisition, Sekisui Chemical will establish a dual-track housing platform combining steel modular construction and conventional wooden post-and-beam construction, enabling more flexible sales proposals.
The group also expects operational synergies, including addressing skilled labor shortages through the shared use of contractor networks and achieving cost efficiencies via consolidated procurement of housing equipment and materials.
In 2024, Sekisui Chemical strengthened its housing and renovation businesses by acquiring Sapporo-based renovation firm Creast and purchasing all shares of Benhouse, a residential land developer active in the Yokohama and Kawasaki areas. The acquisition of Architect Planning is positioned as part of this broader growth strategy focused on regional expansion and strengthening stock-based businesses.
