Tokyo Tatemono Acquires Office Building in Asakusa
Tokyo Tatemono has acquired Nippon Life Asakusa Building, an office building located in Komagata, Taito Ward, Tokyo, from Nippon Life Insurance. The property is a one-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tobu Railway, and Toei Asakusa Line Kuramae Station is also within a five-minute walk.
The property is a nine-story office building with one basement level, built with steel-reinforced concrete construction, and was completed in December 1973. It has a Gross Floor Area of approximately 1,480 tsubo (approx. 52,622 sq. ft.) and a typical floor plate of about 124 tsubo (approx. 4,406 sq. ft.). The building has a ceiling height of 2,460 mm, is equipped with two elevators, and provides parking for 30 vehicles on site.
In its medium-term management plan announced in January 2025, Tokyo Tatemono identified accelerating its capital recycling business as its highest-priority theme and plans to make JPY 540 billion in new investments over the three-year period. The group has an in-house business platform focused on renovating and executing value-add strategies for older real estate assets, and this acquisition appears to align with that strategy. The company’s office portfolio is concentrated primarily in Tokyo’s five central wards, making its move into Taito Ward relatively uncommon.
Commercial land in Taito Ward posted one of the highest rates of assessed land price growth in Tokyo in 2026, exceeding 20%. In addition to Asakusa’s drawing power amid the recovery in inbound tourism, neighboring Kuramae is transforming into a hub for creative industries, helping drive continued land price appreciation across the broader area.
