Sharp Relocates Headquarters From Sakai to Chuo Ward, Osaka

Sharp relocated its headquarters on March 16, 2026, from Takumi-cho in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, to Sakaisuji-Hommachi in Chuo Ward, Osaka. The new headquarters is in the JTB Building, located immediately adjacent to Exit 11 of Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station on the Osaka Metro. The move marks the company’s return to Osaka city proper for the first time in about 10 years since relocating its headquarters from Abeno Ward, Osaka, to Sakai in 2016.

Behind the relocation is the sale of the Sakai Plant. Sharp had maintained its headquarters within the Sakai Plant, where it has manufactured LCD panels for televisions, but decided to relocate after agreeing to sell the plant to Sekisui Chemical and others. The move to a more urban location appears aimed at attracting high-caliber talent and expanding business opportunities.

In the Osaka metropolitan area, major companies have increasingly been relocating their headquarters to central business districts in recent years. In 2026, Kokuyo is set to relocate its headquarters to Grand Green Osaka for the first time in 90 years, while Kubota and Air Water also plan to move their headquarters to the same area.(see related article:Kokuyo to Relocate Headquarters to Grand Green Osaka in Umeda After 90 Years) A common theme among these companies is that they cite talent acquisition and improved accessibility as key reasons for relocating.
