Shimizu Corporation Acquires Ajinomoto Head Office Building in Kyobashi
Shimizu Corporation has acquired the “Ajinomoto Head Office Building” in Kyobashi 1-chome, Chuo Ward, Tokyo. Ajinomoto had decided in May 2025 to transfer the land and building and had indicated it would select the buyer through a competitive bidding process.
The property is located a one-minute walk from Takaracho Station on the Toei Asakusa Line and a four-minute walk from Kyobashi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. Completed in June 1991, the building is a steel-frame structure with a partial steel-reinforced concrete component. It has 14 above-ground floors and two basement levels, a Gross Floor Area of approximately 4,114 tsubo (approx. 146,389 sq. ft.) and a typical floor plate of approximately 275 tsubo (approx. 9,785 sq. ft.), and is equipped with five elevators. It is also within a 10-minute walk of JR Tokyo Station.
Shimizu Corporation is a major general contractor headquartered in nearby Kyobashi 2-chome, making this an acquisition of a large-scale office building close to its own headquarters. Meanwhile, Ajinomoto had been proceeding with asset sales in connection with its planned headquarters relocation to TODA BUILDING (1-7-1 Kyobashi), also in the Kyobashi district, targeted for the first quarter of fiscal 2026.
