Hotel To Open in Kumamoto’s Aso Area by Kyoritsu Maintenance
Kyoritsu Maintenance will pre-open La Vista Minami Aso, a resort hotel in Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, on Aug. 3, 2026. The property will be the 13th location nationwide under the La Vista series and the second in Kyushu.
The facility will have five floors above ground and a total of 90 guest rooms across the main building, annex and cottages. It is located on the Aso outer rim, about a 30-minute drive from Aso Kumamoto Airport and about a 70-minute drive from Kumamoto Station.
The facility is a full renovation of the former Greenpia Minami Aso, which was completed in 1986, and will reopen under the company’s La Vista brand. The former hotel on the site was owned by Minamiaso Village and was sold on Jan. 22, 2024, as a disposition of village-owned property. Ownership was transferred from Minamiaso Village to Minamiaso Country Club and then to Kyoritsu Maintenance on the same date.
According to the Kumamoto Prefecture Lodging Travel Statistics Survey, the Aso area recorded approximately 1.73 million total overnight stays in 2025, up about 2.6% from the previous year. Total overnight stays by foreign visitors reached approximately 590,000, up about 16.4% year over year, accounting for about 34% of total overnight stays in the area. In the Aso area, reinvestment in existing lodging facilities is also emerging, including NBI Regional Revitalization Investment’s acquisition of the hot spring ryokan KAI Aso from Hoshino Resorts REIT in 2025, with renovation work planned after a certain period. Kyoritsu Maintenance is expected to seek to capture growing inbound demand through the renovation of the existing hotel.
