GLP Breaks Ground on Second Logistics Facility in Kumamoto, Adjacent to TSMC Site

In July 2025, GLP Japan commenced construction of “GLP Kumamoto Kikuchi,” its second logistics development in Kumamoto Prefecture. The project responds to surging demand from the semiconductor sector and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

The facility will be a box-type, single-tenant logistics warehouse with two above-ground floors and a total gross floor area of approximately 5,445 tsubo (approx. 179,900 sq. ft.). The first floor will feature a single-sided loading dock with capacity for 19 10-ton trucks and 29 4-ton trucks. Two vertical conveyors and two freight elevators will facilitate integrated operations across both floors.

Designed with full climate control throughout the warehouse, the building can accommodate precision equipment with strict temperature and humidity requirements. Employee amenities will include a break room and on-site parking for approximately 100 passenger vehicles.

The project site is located adjacent to the Semicon Techno Park industrial cluster and approximately 10 minutes by car from JASM, the TSMC-affiliated semiconductor plant. It sits along National Route 325, about 2.8 km from the planned Ozu-Kumamoto Road’s Ozu-Nishi IC (tentative name), 12 km from Kumamoto Airport, and 15 km from the Kyushu Expressway’s Kumamoto IC—offering excellent connectivity for regional logistics.

GLP Japan has already broken ground on “GLP Kumamoto Ozu,” a 3,993-tsubo (approx. 132,000 sq. ft.) facility in the prefecture, and continues to attract strong tenant interest from semiconductor-related businesses. Additionally, the company is set to launch phased construction of the “GLP Fukuoka IC Project” starting November 2025. This large-scale development—GLP’s first in Kyushu—will comprise multiple buildings totaling approx. 45,375 tsubo (approx. 1.5 million sq. ft.), with full buildout targeted by 2028. Together with GLP Kumamoto Kikuchi, these facilities will form a strategic last-mile distribution network across Kyushu.
