Heiwa Real Estate, Hilton to Bring Motto by Hilton to Japan for the First Time in Kyoto
Heiwa Real Estate and Hilton announced on August 6, 2026, that they had agreed to develop Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma at the (Tentative Name) Kyoto Shijo Karasuma Project in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. It marks the first entry into Japan for Hilton's lifestyle brand Motto by Hilton, with opening scheduled for fiscal year 2029.
The project site is located along Shijo-dori Avenue, approximately a two-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line. The building will have 10 above-ground floors and is planned to offer 108 guest rooms. Motto by Hilton is characterized by locally rooted dining and connecting rooms that allow multiple guest rooms to be joined together.
Starting with ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2021, Hilton has opened five hotels in Kyoto City over the past five years. A Curio Collection by Hilton property is also scheduled to open in Kyoto City in winter 2028, and this hotel will be Hilton's seventh in Kyoto.
Under its long-term vision WAY2040, Heiwa Real Estate has positioned the expansion of its hotel business as a new business field.
