List Development to Launch Japan’s First “Anantara” Branded Luxury Resort in Karuizawa

On July 10, List Development Co., Ltd. announced that it has signed a hotel management agreement with Minor Hotels to develop Anantara Karuizawa Retreat, the first luxury resort in Japan under the “Anantara” brand. The project is located in the resort town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, within a 41,933 sqm forested site with scenic views of Mt. Asama, approximately 15 minutes by car from Karuizawa Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line.
The retreat will feature 23 spacious suite rooms (ranging from 60 to 120 sqm; approx. 646 to 1,292 sq. ft.) and 18 villa buildings comprising 28 rooms (70 to 270 sqm; approx. 753 to 2,906 sq. ft.). Amenities will include an all-day dining restaurant, spa, hot spring facilities, and multipurpose spaces, targeting high-end leisure travelers.
This marks the company’s second major luxury resort project, following its hotel condominium development in Hakuba in 2024. List Development has recently focused on luxury residential and hotel condominium projects across Japan.
Anantara Hotels & Resorts is the flagship brand of Bangkok-based Minor Hotels. Since the opening of its first property in Hua Hin, Thailand, in 2001, the brand has expanded to over 50 locations across more than 30 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
