Daiwa House Industry Acquires Dormitory in Funabashi's Yamate Area
Daiwa House Industry acquired a dormitory in Yamate 2-chome, Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, in April 2026. The seller was Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions, a Mitsubishi Electric Group company engaged in building equipment maintenance and other services, which had owned the property for about 59 years since it was newly built in 1967.
The property is a 12-minute walk from Shin-Funabashi Station on the Tobu Urban Park Line and a 19-minute walk from Higashi-Kaijin Station on the Toyo Rapid Railway Line. Completed in 1967, the four-story building has a gross floor area of approximately 452 tsubo (approx. 16,100 sq. ft.). It appears to have been used as a dormitory for Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions employees.
Under its BIZ Livness business, Daiwa House Industry acquires, renovates and resells corporate real estate such as factories, warehouses, commercial facilities and buildings. In Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, it purchased a company dormitory more than 30 years old, including the land and building, in 2025, renovated it into a student dormitory and sold it to J.S.B. in January 2026. The company says that, with construction costs soaring and new development starting from land becoming more difficult, making use of existing buildings is an effective option.
In Funabashi, the company is developing PREMIST TOWER Funabashi, a 51-story for-sale condominium tower, together with Tokyo Tatemono and Keisei Electric Railway on the former site of the Seibu Funabashi main building in front of Funabashi Station on the JR and Tobu lines. Completion is scheduled for March 2028.
