Mitsui Fudosan Acquires Office Building in Nihonbashi-Honcho
Mitsui Fudosan has acquired Daiki Gear Building Nihonbashi Building, an office building in Nihonbashi-Honcho 3-chome, Chuo Ward, Tokyo. The seller was Daiki Kosan, which is headquartered in Osaka. The asset is a small-scale building completed in 1972 with a Gross Floor Area of approximately 163 tsubo (approx. 5,800 sq. ft.), and the acquisition was made within the Nihonbashi area, where Mitsui Fudosan is concentrating large-scale redevelopment efforts.
The property is a reinforced concrete building with six above-ground floors and one basement level, and a typical floor plate of approximately 23 tsubo (approx. 818 sq. ft.). It is located a two-minute walk from Shin-Nihombashi Station on the JR Sobu Rapid Line, a two-minute walk from Kodemmacho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, and a four-minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hanzomon lines.
Mitsui Fudosan has positioned the Nihonbashi area as one of its priority development areas and is advancing the Nihonbashi River Walk concept across approximately 11 hectares along the Nihonbashi River. In the core Nihonbashi 1-Chome Central District, the Nihonbashi 1-Chome Central District Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project, a 52-story tower with a height of 284 meters, is scheduled for completion at the end of September 2028.
Even within the Nihonbashi-Honcho area alone, multiple projects are concentrated there, including Nihonbashi Honcho M-SQUARE, which was completed in November 2025, and Nihonbashi Honcho Mitsui Building forest, one of Japan’s largest timber high-rise office buildings, which is also scheduled for completion in September 2026. The acquired Daiki Gear Building Nihonbashi Building is located near these projects, and the acquisition can also be viewed as one made with an eye on the future vision for the area.
