Wayfarer Converts Existing Building into Apartment Hotel in Minami-Ikebukuro
Wayfarer Co., Ltd. opened the apartment hotel ORI Ikebukuro in Minami-Ikebukuro 1-chome, Toshima Ward, Tokyo, on July 3, 2026. It is the company's 14th property in operation domestically, and the first of three properties confirmed for development in Tokyo.
The building, before renovation, was Phil Park Minami-Ikebukuro, a newly built retail building completed by Phil Company in May 2025 (see related article: Phil Company Completes "Phil Park Minami-Ikebukuro" Near Ikebukuro Station). After Westgate GK acquired the trust beneficiary interest in November of the same year, Wayfarer converted the property into an apartment hotel, handling everything from business planning and design/renovation to operational launch. The facility is located along Meiji-dori Avenue, a five-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, and consists of 9 guest rooms of approximately 45 sq. m (approx. 500 sq. ft.) each, targeting demand from group travelers and long-stay guests.
Wayfarer was founded in 2019 and operates a hotel management business along with its own proprietary hotel technology platform. The company plans to open a converted apartment hotel from an existing hotel in Chuo Ward, Osaka, in June 2026, and to convert an office and residential building into a hotel in Shinanomachi, Shinjuku Ward, for opening in January 2027, continuing its trend of hotel openings through use conversion.
