Marubeni Participates in Large-Scale Residential Development Project in Pune, India
Marubeni Corporation has participated in a residential development and sales project in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The investment is structured through the subscription of non-convertible debentures issued by the Kolte-Patil Developers Ltd. (KPDL) Group, a leading local real estate developer. This marks Marubeni’s fifth real estate development project in India.
The project is a core component of a large-scale master-planned residential development supplying approximately 900 housing units, located adjacent to a major IT park in western Pune. The development features a well-balanced urban plan incorporating retail facilities, educational institutions, and green spaces, contributing to the creation of a highly livable residential district.
Marubeni entered the Indian real estate market in Mumbai in 2020 and has since expanded its portfolio across Pune and Mumbai. This project represents the fourth collaboration with KPDL, following projects in Pune in 2022 (approximately 330 units), Mumbai in 2023 (approximately 210 units), and Pune in 2024 (approximately 570 units). Leveraging its expertise cultivated through domestic real estate development in Japan, Marubeni positions the rapidly expanding Indian middle-income housing market as a key pillar of its overseas real estate business. Looking ahead, the company is considering expansion into other promising cities such as Hyderabad and Bengaluru, while pursuing a multi-layered business strategy that extends beyond real estate development to include social infrastructure and new business platforms and services.
