Sumitomo Densetsu to Relocate Tokyo Headquarters to Nihonbashi-Honcho, Chuo Ward
Sumitomo Densetsu will relocate its Tokyo headquarters from Sumitomo Densetsu Building in Mita, Minato Ward, to Nihonbashi Honcho MK-SQUARE in Nihonbashi-Honcho, Chuo Ward. The move is scheduled for around summer 2028.
Sumitomo Densetsu is a major building systems contractor headquartered in Osaka and part of the Sumitomo Electric Group, handling a wide range of equipment work spanning electrical, information and communications, HVAC and sanitation, and energy systems. Expanding its Tokyo office footprint to accommodate headcount growth had become an issue for the company.
Nihonbashi Honcho MK-SQUARE is an office building completed in 2011 with 15 above-ground floors and two basement levels, and a Gross Floor Area of approximately 4,077 tsubo (approx. 145,067 sq. ft.). Its typical floor plate is about 173 tsubo (approx. 6,153 sq. ft.), and it is located a three-minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hanzomon lines. In the Nihonbashi area, a series of major companies have recently consolidated or relocated headquarters in connection with redevelopment projects, and this transaction can be seen as another example of that trend.
