Nomura Real Estate and Kyushu Electric Power-Backed SPC Start Construction on Cold Storage Logistics Facility in Tosu, Saga Prefecture
A special purpose company backed by Nomura Real Estate and Kyushu Electric Power started construction in May 2026 on a multitenant refrigerated and frozen logistics facility in Tashirohonmachi, Tosu City, Saga Prefecture. Kyuden Urban Development Investment Advisors will provide asset management services for the project, with completion scheduled for October 2027.
The facility will be a three-story box-type warehouse with a Gross Floor Area of approximately 6,468 tsubo (approx. 230,100 sq. ft.). It is located about 0.7 kilometer from the Tosu interchange on the Kyushu Expressway, supporting distribution to the Fukuoka metropolitan area and across Kyushu. Each floor will include refrigerated zones at 5 C and frozen zones at -25 C, and some sections are expected to allow temperature-range conversion. The project is designed to capture demand for refrigerated and frozen logistics facilities, supported by growing demand from the restaurant and ready-to-eat food sectors and the aging of existing facilities.
The Kyuden Group has been advancing development projects mainly in Kyushu as part of its efforts to realize goals set out in the Kyuden Group Management Vision 2035, including value creation and growth through regional co-creation. This facility is positioned as part of that strategy. Nomura Real Estate, meanwhile, has been expanding its development business in the Kyushu area through its Landport series. The project can be seen as one in which the interests of both companies aligned, as they seek to capture demand for refrigerated and frozen logistics facilities and strengthen their logistics facility businesses in Kyushu.
