Sun Frontier to Open 201-Room Business Hotel in Utsunomiya in Fall 2026
Sun Frontier Hotel Management Inc. has announced plans to open a new 201-room business hotel, Tabino Hotel Utsunomiya Yuinomori, in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. The hotel is scheduled to break ground in August 2025 and open in the fall of 2026. This marks the company’s first project in the area.
Located approximately 20 minutes by car from the Utsunomiya-Kaminokawa Interchange on the Kita-Kanto Expressway and around two hours from Tokyo, the site is positioned to serve both corporate and leisure demand. Public transit access includes a 35-minute ride from Utsunomiya Station to Yuinomori-Higashi Station via the Light Line, followed by a 15-minute walk to the hotel.
While most accommodations in the city are currently concentrated around Utsunomiya Station, this project aims to shorten travel time for business travelers visiting nearby industrial zones. The hotel will also target guests seeking overnight stays before golf outings or sports tournaments.
Over 70% of the guestrooms will be double rooms, each equipped with a washer, microwave, and two-door refrigerator. The hotel will also offer a large communal bath with artificial hot springs, a restaurant, meeting rooms, and 141 parking spaces, catering to both long-term stays and business use.
This development follows the May 2025 groundbreaking of Tabino Hotel lit Sakata, a regional collaboration-focused property in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture, slated to open in December 2026. In addition to Utsunomiya, Sun Frontier also plans to open hotels in Aomori and Akita, accelerating its expansion across the Tohoku and Northern Kanto regions. Under the brand concept of “heartwarming and fun hotels,” the company aims to support local employment, increase inbound exchange, and foster sustainable vibrancy through community-based operations.
