Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate to Join Major Mixed-Use Redevelopment Project “175 Liverpool Street” in Sydney

On July 29, Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate announced its participation in the large-scale mixed-use redevelopment project “175 Liverpool Street” in Sydney, Australia. This marks the company’s second joint venture with Australian real estate giant Lendlease, following their collaboration on the residential development “899 Collins Street” in Melbourne in October 2024.

The project will involve demolishing the existing office building and redeveloping the site into two residential towers of 37 and 35 stories, featuring approximately 2,000 m² (approx. 21,500 sq. ft.) of office and retail space. The towers are expected to offer up to 300 residential units. The design is being led by Bates Smart, with construction slated to begin in 2029 and completion targeted for 2031.

The site is located in the southern end of Sydney’s CBD, offering views of Hyde Park and excellent connectivity. It is approximately a one-minute walk from “Museum” Station, with bus, metro, and light rail stations all within a 10-minute walk.

The joint venture is composed of Lendlease (50.1%), Mitsubishi Estate (33.3%), and Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate (16.6%). The three companies will combine their expertise to deliver high-end, central urban redevelopment in response to strong demand in the Australian market.
