GLP Japan Inc. Breaks Ground on Fully Refrigerated Multi-Tenant Logistics Facility in Osaka Bay Area

In June 2025, GLP Japan Inc. commenced construction of "GLP Nanko II," a fully refrigerated and frozen, multi-tenant logistics facility located in Nanko-Kita, Suminoe-ku, Osaka City. The project is slated for completion in December 2026 and will feature a gross floor area of approximately 21,000 sqm (approx. 6,350 sq. ft.) on a site of about 7,000 sqm.

The five-story facility is designed to accommodate up to two tenants. Floors 2 through 4 will house cold storage units with 6.0-meter clear ceiling height and a floor load capacity of 2.0 tons/sqm, allowing for mobile racking systems and efficient pallet storage. The ground-floor loading area is also insulated, with provisions for future installation of ultra-low temperature equipment. Additionally, the facility includes truck berths for 40-foot containers and warming rooms for drivers, addressing the unique thermal control demands of port-based logistics and ensuring improved working conditions.

The Nanko area has long functioned as a key cold storage hub, leveraging proximity to the Port of Osaka and the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Route for international and regional distribution. By adding this multi-tenant facility to its existing single-tenant "GLP Nanko I," GLP Japan Inc. aims to enhance its refrigerated logistics network along the Osaka Bay, capturing growing demand from the food and pharmaceutical sectors. The multi-tenant design is expected to attract mid-sized shippers and 3PL providers seeking flexible cold storage solutions near the port, further strengthening GLP’s regional logistics portfolio.
