Four Companies Including Hulic Complete QUARTZ SHINSAIBASHI, a Mixed-Use Retail, Hotel and Office Tower in Shinsaibashi

QUARTZ SHINSAIBASHI, a mixed-use project under development in Minamisenba, Chuo Ward, Osaka, by four parties — Hulic Co., Ltd., Takenaka Corporation, JR West Japan Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., and Shinsaibashi Kaihatsu TMK, a special purpose company jointly invested in by L Catterton Real Estate and J. Front Urban Development Co., Ltd. — was completed on March 16, 2026. The approximately 132-meter-tall property has 28 above-ground floors and two basement levels, with retail on the lower floors, offices on the middle floors and a hotel on the upper floors. The building is directly connected to Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji and Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi lines, and ranks among the tallest buildings, existing and newly built, along the Midosuji corridor.

The site occupies a highly visible location at the Shinsaibashi intersection, where Midosuji Avenue meets Nagahori-dori Avenue. The project redeveloped and consolidated several buildings that had long supported activity in the area, including Shinsaibashi Plaza Building and Shinsaibashi Fuji Building. The retail component spans from Basement 2 to the sixth floor, with about 40 stores scheduled to open on April 25, 2026. A food-and-beverage floor is set to open in summer 2026, followed by luxury-brand tenants on the lower floors in phases through around fall 2026.

The office floors, located from the eighth through 14th floors, can accommodate floor plates of about 269 tsubo (approx. 9,572 sq. ft.) per floor down to subdivided suites of about 24 tsubo (approx. 854 sq. ft.), highlighting the convenience of direct station access and dedicated shuttle elevators. From the 16th through 28th floors, The Gate Hotel Osaka by HULIC, operated by the Hulic Group, is scheduled to open on June 15, 2026. With 223 rooms, it will be the largest property in The Gate Hotel brand and the brand’s flagship in the Kansai region. A rooftop bar will be installed on the top floor.

In 2019, the City of Osaka formulated the “Midosuji Future Vision,” targeting 2037 — the 100th anniversary of Midosuji’s completion — for full pedestrianization of the roadway. Along the Midosuji corridor, super high-rise office supply taking advantage of relaxed height limits has continued to emerge, including the completion of the 150-meter-tall Yodoyabashi Station One in 2025. Against this backdrop of redevelopment momentum along Midosuji, QUARTZ SHINSAIBASHI is positioned as a new landmark in Osaka’s Minami area.
