J. Front City Development to Acquire Kobe Kyoryuchi No. 25 Building from Activia Properties

J. Front City Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of J. Front Retailing Co., Ltd., announced on January 16, 2026, that it has decided to acquire Kobe Kyoryuchi No. 25 Building from Activia Properties Inc. The property is a large-scale, highly distinctive mixed-use complex integrating the Oriental Hotel Kobe with a retail component comprising seven shops, allowing for a wide range of uses including shopping, dining, accommodation, and weddings.
The property is a 17-story building with three basement levels, of steel construction with partial steel-reinforced concrete, completed in January 2010. It has a gross floor area of approximately 8,170 tsubo (approx. 290,700 sq. ft.) on a site of approximately 911 tsubo (approx. 32,400 sq. ft.). It is located a four-minute walk from Kyukyoryuchi–Daimarumae Station on the Kobe Municipal Subway Kaigan Line and a six-minute walk from Motomachi Station on the JR Kobe Line.
For the JFR Group, Kobe is one of its seven priority cities. Since Daimaru Kobe Store began surrounding-area development in 1987, the group has been actively engaged in revitalizing the former foreign settlement (Kyoryuchi) area. While the district has seen a growing concentration of luxury brands, the group believes there remains further potential to enhance its appeal through improved pedestrian circulation and enriched experiential value. J. Front City Development plans to leverage collaboration with Daimaru Kobe Store to generate synergies with the surrounding area and promote initiatives that contribute to the sustainable growth of the Kyoryuchi district as a whole.
