Japan GLP Starts Construction on Logistics Facility of More Than 50,000 Tsubo in Tokyo’s Akishima

Japan GLP started construction June 30, 2026, on ALFALINK Tokyo Akishima 3, a large-scale logistics facility in Akishima, Tokyo. The facility is the first building in ALFALINK Tokyo Akishima, an ultra-large-scale logistics park consisting of three buildings with a total Gross Floor Area of more than 250,000 tsubo (approx. 8,896,000 sq. ft.). Completion is scheduled for the end of June 2028.
The building will have five floors above ground, with a Gross Floor Area of approximately 53,694 tsubo (approx. 1,910,900 sq. ft.). It will be a multitenant logistics facility equipped with double rampways. By providing a rooftop terminal, the project aims to reduce delivery costs and energy used for deliveries. The facility is designed to accommodate a wide range of tenant needs, from large, flat floor plates of more than 10,000 tsubo (approx. 355,800 sq. ft.) that can support large-scale automated material-handling equipment, to compact units starting at about 800 tsubo (approx. 28,500 sq. ft.) and units with truck berths on both sides and low-floor berths.
The development site is located about 6.0 kilometers from the Hachioji interchange on the Chuo Expressway, about 8.4 kilometers from the Akiruno interchange on the Ken-O Expressway and about 1.5 kilometers from National Route 16, positioning it for both area delivery to central Tokyo and trunk-line transportation. The site also offers strong transit access, at a six-minute walk from Akishima Station on the JR Ome Line and a four-minute walk from Seibu-Tachikawa Station on the Seibu Haijima Line, which is expected to help tenant companies secure a stable workforce.
ALFALINK is Japan GLP’s series of ultra-large-scale multitenant logistics facilities, among the largest of their kind in Japan. The company has developed ALFALINK Sagamihara in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, and ALFALINK Nagareyama in Nagareyama, Chiba Prefecture, in the greater Tokyo area, as well as ALFALINK Ibaraki in Ibaraki, Osaka Prefecture, and ALFALINK Amagasaki in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, in the Kansai region.(see related article:GLP Japan Completes Kansai’s Largest Multi-Functional Logistics Hub, GLP ALFALINK Amagasaki, GLP Japan Completes First ALFALINK Project in Kansai — 1.15M-SF Ibaraki Logistics Hub 97% Pre-Leased) This will be the first ALFALINK project in Tokyo, creating a large-scale supply of logistics space designed to serve a wide range of demand from wide-area distribution to delivery within Tokyo.
