Daiwa House Industry Acquires Retail and Office Building in Tokyo's Higashi-Ginza Area

Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. acquired Bijutsuka Kaikan Building in Ginza 3-chome, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, on May 1, 2026. The seller was Bijutsu Kaikan Godo Kaisha.

The property was completed in 1962, has eight above-ground floors and one basement level, and a typical floor plate of approximately 40 tsubo (approx. 1,400 sq. ft.). It is located a two-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Asakusa Line, and a three-minute walk from Ginza-itchome Station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line.

According to the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, the building was completed in November 1962 as "Japan Artists Hall," intended by the Japan Artists Association to serve as an international hub for artists. At the time of completion, the Japan Artists Association occupied the upper floors, while art-related organizations occupied the lower floors. Gallery Seira, which had operated on the first floor since 1995, closed as of March 31, 2026.

Ownership of the building's two exclusive sections was transferred from Bijutsu Kaikan Co., Ltd. and the Japan Artists Association (a general incorporated association) to Bijutsu Kaikan Godo Kaisha in December 2025, and Daiwa House Industry acquired the property approximately four and a half months later. In Ginza, cases of rebuilding existing buildings have also been seen, such as the Abe Yoseido Building, whose reconstruction Mitsui Fudosan led as development manager and which was completed in March 2026 (see related article: Mitsui Fudosan Completes Retail Building on Ginza Namiki Street), though the future use of this property has not been disclosed.
