Sekisui House and JR East ITOCHU Real Estate Development to Open Courtyard by Marriott in Takayama
Sekisui House and JR East ITOCHU Real Estate Development announced on October 28, 2026, that they will open Courtyard by Marriott Hida Takayama in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, in fall 2028. The two companies are developing the hotel jointly, and Pacifica Hotels will operate it. It will be the brand's first location in Gifu Prefecture.
The site is within walking distance of JR Takayama Station. The eight-story hotel is planned to have 207 guest rooms, including suites. It will feature an all-day dining restaurant with a semi-open kitchen.
According to Takayama City statistics, the number of overnight guests in 2025 reached a record of approximately 2.32 million. In September 2026, the JR Central Group rebranded Hotel Associa Takayama Resort and opened Hilton Takayama Resort, the first Hilton in Gifu Prefecture. In early 2029, Mitsui Fudosan is scheduled to open the first Mitsui Garden Hotels property in Gifu Prefecture.
JR East ITOCHU Real Estate Development is a comprehensive real estate developer launched on October 1, 2026, through the business integration of JR East Real Estate and ITOCHU Property Development. At the time of the integration, it said it would pursue developments, including hotel development, that help expand visitor numbers and create jobs not only in the Tokyo metropolitan area but also in regional core cities and areas along railway lines.
