Nihon House Holdings to Sell Four Hotels in Nasu and Hakone, With a Gain on Sale of JPY 4.5 Billion
On July 30, 2026, Nihon House Holdings announced that it will transfer the trust beneficiary interests in four hotels it owns. The sale covers two facilities in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, and two in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, with a total of 194 guest rooms. The buyer is a domestic general business company, and the company expects a gain on sale of approximately JPY 4.5 billion. Delivery of the properties is scheduled for October 1, 2026.
In the company's results for the fiscal year ended April 2026, its hotel business posted higher revenue year on year thanks to improved occupancy but recorded an operating loss of JPY 373 million. The lodging occupancy rate across all six resort hotels was 24.6%, and for the four facilities being sold this time, the company judged that a considerable period would be needed to improve earnings and decided to sell them.
The sale proceeds are planned to be applied to growth investment in the housing business and capital expenditure on the hotels it will continue to hold. The company had aimed to make its hotel business profitable as a priority measure for the fiscal year ended April 2026, but operating losses continued. This sale is a move to organize low-profitability facilities and concentrate management resources on the hotels it will continue to hold and its core housing business.
