Mitsubishi Estate and Kajima Corporation have completed the “(Tentative Name) Miyakojima To River District Phase 2 Hotel Project” in Miyakojima City, Okinawa, on November 30, officially naming the development “Yard miyakojima.” The property will open on April 1, 2026, alongside the adjacent Canopy by Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort.
The facility is a reinforced concrete building with 2 stories above ground plus 1 penthouse level, offering a Gross Floor Area of approx. 539 tsubo (approx. 19,000 sq. ft.). A landscaped central courtyard sits at the heart of the project, surrounded by food-and-beverage and retail units. A sunset terrace is provided on the rooftop. A total of eight tenants will occupy the space, including a craft beer brewery with bar, a café, a skincare brand, a pottery studio, and an apparel shop.
Tourism demand in Miyakojima has been recovering steadily, with approximately 940,000 visitors in 2023, reaching 80–90% of pre-pandemic levels. Expansion of LCC routes at Shimojishima Airport has further improved access, supporting solid demand for dining, retail, and other stay-related facilities. Against this backdrop, the developers planned a commercial component that can serve both hotel guests and local residents/visitors.
The To River district is being developed as a coastal tourism hub, with parks, a marina, and beaches forming a continuous visitor-oriented corridor. As multiple resort developments advance, the opening of Yard miyakojima is expected to further enhance pedestrian flow and activity throughout the area.
The site is accessible in 15 minutes by car from Miyako Airport and 25 minutes from Shimojishima Airport, combining hotel and retail functions to cater to both tourists and the local community.
