JR Central Group to Rebrand Hotel Above Shin-Yokohama Station as Courtyard by Marriott

JR Central, together with group companies Shin-Yokohama Station Development and JR Central Hotels, announced on October 21, 2026, that it will open Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Yokohama Station. The hotel is a rebranding of Hotel Associa Shin-Yokohama, which opened in 2008, and marks the Courtyard by Marriott brand's first location in Kanagawa Prefecture. The building is owned by Shin-Yokohama Station Development, and JR Central Hotels will operate the hotel. Opening is scheduled for December 18, 2026.

The hotel is located directly above Shin-Yokohama Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen. It has 203 guest rooms, and the interiors, furniture and lighting of all rooms will be renewed. Guest rooms of approximately 23 sq. m (approx. 200 sq. ft.) will account for 180 of the rooms, and seven premium guest rooms of approximately 51 sq. m (approx. 500 sq. ft.) will be provided, along with two newly created sets of connecting rooms that each link two rooms. On the 10th floor, the lobby will be expanded, and the reception, a fitness center and a restaurant will be located there. The 12th floor will house meeting rooms and a relax & work space, and floors 13 through 19 will contain guest rooms.

The three companies partnered with Marriott International to make the hotel easy to use for the growing number of inbound visitors as well as domestic business and leisure travelers. Through the rebranding, they aim to enhance the value of stays along the Tokaido Shinkansen line. Marriott International-branded hotels in Kanagawa Prefecture include Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers, The Westin Yokohama and Four Points Flex by Sheraton Yokohama Ekinishi.
