Mitsui Fudosan Unveils 2025 Logistics Development Plan, Total Investment Reaches JPY 1.3 Trillion
On August 1, Mitsui Fudosan announced its logistics business development plan for fiscal year 2025. The company plans to break ground on six new properties both in Japan and overseas, bringing its cumulative development count to 78 facilities and total investment to approximately JPY 1.3 trillion.
At the core of the new plan is the formal launch of the “MFLP &LOGI” service series. Mitsui Fudosan has previously rolled out a variety of logistics-related services such as “MFLP &LOGI Solution” and “MFLP &LOGI Sharing” aimed at addressing industry-wide challenges. These offerings will now be structured into a cohesive series to better address the increasingly diverse and complex issues facing the logistics sector. In July, the company began a proof-of-concept for a new service tentatively named “MFLP &LOGI Berth” at MFLP Funabashi, which uses automation to visualize cargo handling times, aiming to reduce wait and loading times while promoting shared transportation.
By sector, Mitsui Fudosan has decided to enter the data center space in the Kansai region, targeting the rising demand driven by generative AI. Cumulative investment in this area is expected to reach JPY 300 billion. The company is also expanding into other segments, including built-to-suit warehouses, cold storage facilities, laboratories, and rental factories.
On the sustainability front, the company continues to promote its “&EARTH for Nature” initiative. A key project is “MFIP Ebina &forest,” which employs rooftop solar panels and timber structures to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 40%. These efforts reflect Mitsui Fudosan’s vision of positioning logistics facilities as core urban infrastructure, leading the development of next-generation communities.
