Yanmar Energy System to Build New Plant in Kitakyushu for Emergency Power Generation Systems for Data Centers

Yanmar Energy System, a group company of Yanmar Holdings, will build a new plant in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, to manufacture emergency power generation systems for data centers. The company plans to begin operations by 2028, positioning the facility as a core production base for its manufacturing subsidiary, Yanmar Energy System Manufacturing. To acquire the plant site, it signed a location agreement with the City of Kitakyushu on April 7, 2026.
In October 2025, the company announced its large-capacity emergency power generation system, the GY175 Series. In addition to its existing models for the 2,000kVA class, it plans to expand the lineup to the 3,000kVA class from fiscal 2026 onward and to the 4,000kVA class from fiscal 2028 onward. Centered on the new Kitakyushu plant, the company intends to strengthen its product lineup and establish a supply framework to meet business continuity planning demand from large-scale facilities such as data centers, factories, office buildings, and hospitals. Looking ahead, it is also considering production of energy system equipment that contributes to carbon neutrality.
Kitakyushu was selected because it offers a well-developed manufacturing base, including land, sea, and air logistics infrastructure as well as a concentration of suppliers. The city is also seeing growing clustering of renewable energy-related industries. Another factor behind the site selection was the ease of coordination with the company’s affiliated manufacturing bases in Fukuoka Prefecture, Okayama Prefecture, and Hyogo Prefecture.
