Taisei-Yuraku Real Estate has opened the Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma on November 1, 2025, after completing renovation work in September 2025. The property, located in Kyoto’s Shimogyo Ward, marks the company’s fourth hotel project.
Situated at the southeast corner of Karasuma and Matsubara streets, the hotel offers prime access just a four-minute walk from Gojo Station and a five-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line. The property was formerly operated as Hotel Kyoto Base Shijo Karasuma, which closed on June 30, 2025, before being rebranded.
The hotel remains under the ownership of Taisei Yuraku Real Estate and is managed by Pacifica Hotels GK under IHG’s newest midscale conversion brand, Garner. With a gross floor area of approximately 600 tsubo (approx. 19,800 sq. ft.) and 103 guest rooms, the hotel targets both leisure and business travelers visiting Kyoto’s central area.
This project represents the fourth in the company’s hotel portfolio, following Hotel androoms Kyoto Shichijo (Kyoto, 2020), OMO5 Kyoto Gion by Hoshino Resorts (Kyoto, 2021, conversion), and BAYHOTEL Tokyo Hamamatsucho (Tokyo, 2020). It is the firm’s third hotel in Kyoto, strengthening its portfolio catering to both tourism and business demand.
