Denki Building West Tower Breaks Ground in Fukuoka, Delivering Approx. 383,000 SF of Office Space by 2028

FUKUOKA — On February 5, 2026, Denki Building Co., Ltd., Juhachi-Shinwa Bank (part of the Fukuoka Financial Group), and Aliwell Co., Ltd. commenced construction of a large-scale office tower in Chuo-ku’s Watanabe-dori district of Fukuoka City, with completion slated for March 2028.
The new Denki Building West Tower will rise 15 stories above grade and deliver approximately 10,760 tsubo of gross floor area (roughly 383,000 sq ft), featuring flexible column-free floor plates of about 540 tsubo each (roughly 19,200 sq ft) on typical office levels.
Strategically positioned with weather-protected access to the “Watanabe-dori” subway station on Fukuoka’s Nanakuma Line, the project is part of broader central city development momentum in the Tenjin-Hakata area.
In addition to office floors, the building’s second level will offer balcony-facing workspace and lounge areas tailored to modern workstyles, while the ground floor will accommodate retail space with direct frontage on adjacent streets and plazas.
From a sustainability standpoint, the office component aims for ZEB Oriented certification and will be integrated into a renewable energy strategy through off-site power purchase agreements executed with partner utilities.
Design responsibilities are shared by Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei alongside Nishi-Nihon Gijutsu Kaihatsu and Takenaka Corporation’s design team, while construction is led by a consortium including Takenaka, Matsuo, and Matsumoto, with Craftia overseeing building systems and Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions supplying vertical transportation solutions.
The Denki Building West Tower is expected to further enhance Fukuoka’s office market supply amid ongoing redevelopment activity and growing demand within the Kyushu regional hub.
